This project won the SILVER AXIEM in the Interactive Media Self Promotion category for the year 2002.
This connected CD-ROM allows virtually all content to be updated via the web at the user's discretion. Updates may be small, such as a change in text copy. They may also be comprehensive, such as introducing an entirely new product or training module.
The "heads-up display" interface encourages exploration with a significant playfulness component in the form of highly reactive widgets, organicly shaped windows and unobtrusive sound effects. It also serves the goal of displaying only what is needed for the current module and hiding the irrelevant to minimize distractions.
Content can be presented in many forms. In the main window, Flash animations are synchronized to voice-over audio which is given a futuristic "face" (an oscilloscope-type wave form). Layered behind these may be bitmap images and RTF text. The Flash and RTF components can include live links to other content sections. Sliding panels expose the main menu, the "Recommender" (the prioritized results of the Needs Assessment questionnaire) and several other controls. Various interestingly shaped gallery windows appear only when needed and may be dragged wherever the user desires. They can display RTF text (including live links), graphics, local digital video, streaming digital video, questionnaires, categorized links to PDF files available, PDF documents, etc.
We will be publishing a Case Study for this project soon!
